Overview
ADNOC Drilling is one of the largest drilling companies in the Middle East. In common with many companies in the industry, HSE is a key component of operations. ADNOC Drilling partnered with our team to produce a library of high-quality safety videos for staff induction, safety briefings, and incident learnings. The content includes 3D animated induction films, safety briefing (or “safety moment”) videos, and learning from incident videos.
All videos are fully animated in high-fidelity 3D, featuring motion-captured character performance to ensure natural and realistic movement. Character design reflects ADNOC’s workforce demographics, with accurate representations of personal protective equipment, uniforms, and working environments.
The project began with three animated induction videos, each tailored to a different operational environment within ADNOC Drilling:
Onshore drilling induction
Offshore jack-up rig induction
Island rig induction
The scope was later extended to include a wider set of safety content, covering:
Safety briefing videos on topics such as stop work authority, greenhats, safe lifting, work management systems, and working at height
Learning from incident animations focused on safety barriers, following procedures, teamwork, planning, and other key behavioral lessons
All content is site-specific and designed to align with ADNOC Drilling’s critical safety policies, emergency protocols, and safe work expectations. Each video was developed using a rigorous review and feedback process in collaboration with ADNOC Drilling’s HSE team and stakeholders, and every video in the series was versioned and delivered in English, Hindi, Arabic, and Urdu to support ADNOC Drilling’s multilingual workforce.
Objective
Create a series of 3D safety animations for training ADNOC Drilling employees, covering offshore, onshore, and island drilling.
Approach
We set all of our ADNOC drilling animations in ADNOC Drilling locations, with realistic characters designed after ADNOC employees for learning from incidents animations, induction animations, safety moment animations, and more.
The Problem
ADNOC Drilling operates across diverse environments including onshore rigs, offshore jack-up rigs, and island rigs. To support safe operations, there was a need for a consistent and visually clear method of delivering site-specific inductions, daily briefings, and lessons learned from incidents. The objective was to ensure that safety expectations were understood across all teams, regardless of location or role.
The solution also needed to accommodate a multilingual workforce, with content accessible and accurate in several languages without losing clarity or intent.
To meet ADNOC Drilling’s operational and safety communication goals, the system had to:
Deliver induction content tailored to the specific procedures of each rig type
Provide standardized safety briefing videos on topics including:
Stop work authority
Greenhats
Safe lifting
Work management systems
Working at height
And more
Present learning from incident scenarios that clearly demonstrate:
What happened
Why it happened
What lessons were learned and how these incidents should be avoided
Be scalable and repeatable across sites, languages, and delivery formats
By addressing these requirements, ADNOC Drilling aimed to enhance awareness, improve consistency, and support a strong safety culture through engaging, site-relevant visual content.
The Solution
To deliver consistent and effective safety communication, we developed a comprehensive series of animated safety videos. Key features include:
Full 3D animation with high visual fidelity
Use of motion capture technology for natural and realistic character movement
Characters designed to match ADNOC Drilling’s workforce demographics, including PPE and uniforms
Accurate 3D environments representing onshore, offshore jack-up, and island rig sites
Clear visual cues for safety zones, signage, and hazard areas
Scripts developed and refined in collaboration with ADNOC Drilling’s HSE and management teams
Demonstrations of safety procedures, behaviors, and emergency protocols
3D visual reenactments of incidents to highlight lessons learned and best practices
Multi-language versioning in English, Hindi, Arabic, and Urdu
ADNOC-branded 3D assets for familiarization for trainee staff
These elements combine to create a scalable library of safety content that:
Provides clear and consistent messaging across all sites and teams
Enhances understanding through visual and behavioral clarity
Supports ADNOC Drilling’s safety culture and operational readiness
Allows flexible deployment across different training settings and languages
This approach ensures every employee receives the same high-quality, relevant safety training regardless of location or language.
