Overview
In addition to working with OMV on earlier projects, including HSE animations for the Nawara Development in Tunisia, this initiative involved creating a series of lessons learned animations to communicate key messages from high-potential incidents. Among them was a hand safety animation developed to highlight risks and promote safer practices in day-to-day tasks.
Objective
Communicate key hand safety lessons learned from high-potential incidents to a global workforce.
Approach
We used targeted HSE animation to raise awareness and drive behavioral change among operational teams.
The Problem
OMV Hand Safety Concerns
Analysis of high-potential incident reports at OMV revealed recurring safety concerns, including a significant number of incidents involving hand injuries. These incidents, while varying in severity, highlighted gaps in hazard awareness and procedure compliance across operational teams. With OMV’s global presence and a workforce operating in high-risk environments, there was a clear need for targeted communication tools to reinforce safe behaviors and prevent repeat events.
The Solution
SHIIFT Training developed a hand safety animation as part of a broader package of HSE animations designed to address key safety risks identified in OMV’s operations. This visual learning tool was created to engage field personnel and influence behavior by delivering lessons learned from real incidents in an accessible and memorable format.

These animations were designed to reach OMV employees and contractors worldwide, especially those working directly in the field or supporting operational decisions.Target Audiences:
OMV Operational Employees & Contractors – engineers, drillers, maintenance staff, security, logistics
OMV Management – site managers, HSE leaders, project and operations managers
Objectives:
Establish a consistent and engaging safety communication channel based on real events
Improve awareness and encourage ownership of safety practices across all levels of the workforce
Support behavior change and reduce the likelihood of repeat incidents
Reinforce OMV’s position as a leader in safety innovation within the energy sector
